Great journal... I met you at Hontoon Island on your way to Jax when you cooked that deliciously smelling breakfast for your daughters on the cockpit stove. The aroma of bacon wafting down to my boat was the highlight of the morning. Thanks also for putting me in touch with the Lake Monroe Sailing Club... what a wonderful and welcoming group of soon-to-be-friends!

I have childhood memories of holding on for dear life as I crossed Lake George in a bass boat with my father. I'm not sure the waves were six foot, because he made be sit on the bottom of the boat so I wouldn't fly out!

I had lunch at Angels the day after Thanksgiving... It's pretty unique for Florida. It would be nice if they could refurbish it a little, but I doubt there's much money in Palatka...

Little did I know I would be posting to a small boat traveling down the St. John's River. You said a "a boat crossed in front of you" and that it was a near miss. From my days of power cruising on the Chesapeake Bay, Eastern Bay and Miles River it sounds like there are no rules of the road on the St. John's. Is this so or what? Hope you have warm clothes as the weather is due to be quite crispy

Steve, you are making good time on your trip. I love the shot of the eagles atop the nav marker. Sounds like you've found a lot of the same spots along the SJR that I have. Here's a few comments (which you may already know): <BR/><BR/>Volusia Bar is a shallow sand bar where the SJR flows into Lake George. It is a navigational hazzard, and therefore was once the site of Florida's only inland
